Welcome to The Spy's Goodbye!

This blog primarily focuses on spotlighting our eBay items for sale and blogging about our previous brick-and-mortar storefronts and excursions to business related conventions, events and shows including the Disneyland Resort and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge!

Jimmy Eat World & Paramore Concert (April 6, 2008)

The grand opening of Darkstar I was April 6, 2008 which was also the same day as the Jimmy Eat World & Paramore (with special guest Deer in the Headlights) concert across the street at the Rabobank Arena (now Mechanics Bank Arena.) My sister was dating "The Real" Bruce Wayne at the time who worked for KRAB Radio and was able to get me and my girlfriend at the time into the show as well as score us slots in the meet and greet group beforehand.

The group meeting Jimmy Eat World (sans lead singer Jim Adkins) behind the Rabobank Arena on "Korn Row." They signed the 8x10 photos everyone in the group was given as well as the Chase This Light vinyl LP I brought with me.

Darkstar I (Part 1)

Welcome to the first part in a blog series covering our first brick-and-mortar storefront "Darkstar" aka "Darkstar Records" aka "Darkstar Records and Books" or "Darkstar I" as we would come to know it. We ran this store from April 6, 2008 until May 15, 2010 and it was located in "The Cottages" across the street from the Rabobank Arena (now Mechanics Bank Arena) at 1024 Truxtun Ave. in Bakersfield, CA.

Our first sign and logo created by Dean Jones of Dean Jones Signs. It was dual purpose and incorporated our store as well as my Dad's existing DJ business "Minglewood Productions" which also operated out of this location. Dean Jones presented us with the completed sign at our store the morning of our second day in business on April 7, 2008.

Willie Nelson Concert (February 6, 2002)

This photo pre-dates the opening of our business by more than 6 years but is still fun and relevant nonetheless. Thanks to my Dad's job at KUZZ Radio at the time, we got to meet Willie Nelson on his tour bus after a concert at the Fox Theater in Bakersfield, CA way back on February 6, 2002.
